Peruvian director Claudia Llosa to make English-language debut

(ANDINA). Jennifer Connelly and "Inception" star Cillian Murphy are set to topline "Cry/Fly," the English-language debut of one of Latin America's fastest-rising femme helmer-scribes, Peruvian Claudia Llosa.
France's Melanie Laurent, who appeared in "Inglourious Basterds," is in advanced negotiations to co-star as a French journalist, Variety reports. Set in Minnesota and northern Canada over two time periods, "Cry/Fly" tells the story of a mother (Connelly) whose six-year-old daughter is terminally ill. A dramatic event separates the mother from her sick daughter and falcon-keeper son, and 20 years later, the son is persuaded by a journalist to embark on a search for his now-famous mother.
Sold by Spain's Dreamcatchers, "Cry/Fly" is produced by Mark Johnson, and Spain's Jose Maria Morales and Ibon Cormenzana. "Cry/Fly" begins shooting in February. Llosa's sophomore picture, 2009's "The Milk of Sorrow," won the Berlin Festival's Golden Bear and was nominated for an Oscar. (END) INT/EEP/LVT
